Here's to not being a Hard Core Raider

So I've come to realize that those raiders that make it into hard core guilds that do nothing but hard modes and have no lives are nothing but self absorbed pricks. I've yet to meet someone who is friendly and helpful and a hard core hard mode raider. I'd like someone to prove me wrong. But I doubt it'll happen. We'll see though. However if this is true, I'll stay a normal mode raider forever.

Just reading up on your blog, you probably see me on the WoW forums a lot...I actually took the time to read your blog. You'd see me as Shebonez from Vek'Nilash, just because I don't agree with you about how I feel in regards to Discipline (I personally expect more), it doesn't stop me from playing the class, attempting to fill in any role as necessary with the spec, and just having fun ultimately.

I would be one of those "hard core raid guilds" that apparently have no life (I work 40+ hours a week), raid all the time (I literally raid 12 hours a week), and apparently I am a self absorbed prick (I have nothing snazzy for that one). I can confidently say that it is far from the truth. I really do enjoy Priest theorycrafting, and am actually not the type of person you associate hardcore raiders with.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with being a normal mode raider...you still get to see the content. Do you have full encounter experience? Likely not, but it doesn't mean that you're a bad player. There are several factors that go into deciding a guild including friends, times of raids, etc. I understand that. The reason why I choose to raid the way I do is because I really do enjoy seeing content get completed. Honestly, most of the normal mode content is pretty straight forward. Fights like Firefighter, Algalon, etc. really do push you to the limits, and I enjoy those encounters. To me, it is boring to sit on Iron Council normal, and sit there at full mana the entire time.

With that in mind, ToGC doesn't exactly do it for me to be honest. I think Blizzard was REALLY lazy with the encounters. I think the only fight that had any thought put into it was Anub'Arak. You can certainly argue Twin Valks is very difficult on 25 man (and it is), but I think the encounter is really corny, especially in comparison to Algalon and Firefighter (fights I mentioned) that were very smart and clever.

Admittedly, I can't wait for Icecrown, as it should provide a larger and more epic experience (like Ulduar), while advancing the story the way we've wanted to since Warcraft III.

I am done writing for now, but, here is hoping that you don't see all of us hardcore people as pricks. I won't subscribe to your blog, as it is more like a, "your WoW experience" vs anything actually beneficial, theorycrafting, or anything of that nature (not being a dick, just stating I did read it)...if you did want to talk Priests, or anything else, you can always IM me at (perfectalpha - AIM) or (perfectalpha@live.com - Windows Live). Hope to hear from you Nymarie.

Well you're the first! Most hard core raiders I've met with have been like "I dismiss your opinion because you aren't as progressed as me." It's incredibly irritating and very haughty. I don't like haughty people. But thanks for modifying my view of hard core raiders.
